Our Story

Growing up around the Metro Detroit area, we’ve witnessed both the pride and the challenges of this city. Founded by Thomas Yu and Amin Nasir, and currently led by Ethan Hu, we are a group of high school students who believe in the power of community and change at the ground level.

The313co was founded with the goal of building a more connected Detroit, where youth take initiative and responsibility for creating a better future. With every donation, outreach event, and bag we distribute, we move closer to our vision of Detroit — where everyone has access to basic needs.

Ethan Hu

President

Ethan Hu is the current president of the313co and a student-athlete at Detroit Country Day School. He leads with a genuine passion for helping others, shown through years of volunteering at local YMCAs, mentoring youth, and coaching young children in basketball. Ethan has demonstrated strong leadership and a commitment to supporting those around him. Whether on the court or in the community, he inspires others through his dedication, compassion, and drive to make a positive difference.

As President of the313co, Ethan leads by example, cultivating a culture of service, unity, and hope. His vision is to see the313co continue to grow as a platform where young people inspire one another to rise as leaders - reminding us all that true leadership is not about titles or recognition, but about lifting each other and creating a stronger, more compassionate world together.

Brad Humphrey

Advisory Counselor

Brad Humphrey is a seasoned attorney with over 18 years of experience shaping global tax strategies for large international corporations. As the founder and long-time board member of the Jessica Humphrey Family Foundation, he has led fundraising efforts for over 15 years to support children and adults with special needs.

Deeply committed to charity and community service, Brad serves as Advisory Counselor to the313co, a youth-led nonprofit, providing strategic guidance, oversight, and mentorship to empower the next generation of leaders.
